Lego Robotics

Children will step into a world of wonder, as they build small-scale robots from scratch and see their creations come alive by programming them to move!

Since the launch of our Lego Robotics programme in 2017, it has remained one of our most popular enrichment offerings.

As specialists in preschool education, we carefully design our curriculum to meet the unique needs of young learners. Students learn to build small-scale robots from scratch and programme them to move, while exploring captivating themes like dinosaurs, natural disasters, and space.

Curriculum Approach

Our Lego Robotics programme is designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love for learning. By simplifying complex concepts and tailoring lessons to suit different abilities, we ensure an engaging and enriching experience for each child.

Curriculum Objectives

By placing scientific discovery directly into the hands of children, our programme aims to make robotics both accessible and fascinating for young learners. Our key objectives :

Curriculum Outline

Key Learning Objectives:

Basic

Students will embark on an exciting journey of discovery, learning to build simple Lego robots with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. They will explore how to work with blocks, gears, connectors and motors.

They will start with a series of Guided Projects based on fascinating topics such as speed, push-pull forces, pollination, and recycling.

As they progress, they will move on to Open Projects – these are semi-guided challenges, where students will build robots based on given themes, such as predator and prey, moon rover, and extreme habitats. They will be encouraged to exercise creativity to modify their robots or devise innovative solutions. Examples include:

Speed Car

Pollination

Predator and Prey

Moon Rover

Intermediate

In the intermediate stage, students are encouraged to take the reins and dive into more complex and challenging projects, fostering greater independence and creativity.

They will explore three exciting topics – city vehicles, futuristic robots, and dinosaurs.

City Vehicles

Students will try their hand at building a variety of vehicles, from designing an eco-friendly automated bus that uses motion sensors to constructing a heavy-duty loading vehicle, or assembling a helicopter ready for daring rescue missions. Each project will push students to think critically and creatively. Examples include:

Strong Lift

Heli Rescue

Futuristic Robots

Students will move on to explore futuristic Lego models, where imagination meets innovation. They’ll design a humanoid robot that assists with household tasks, build a cutting-edge robot to help scientists with experiments, and construct a planet rover ready to explore new worlds. Examples include:

Explorer

Smarty

Dinosaurs

Students will journey back to the thrilling ancient world of dinosaurs, where they’ll learn to build a variety of prehistoric giants. From soaring Pteranodons to the mighty T-Rex and the formidable Stegosaurus, each project will transport them to a different era of the dinosaur age.

Children will be both excited and challenged, as they push their creativity and skills to new heights. Examples include:

Pteranodon

Triceratops

Advanced

Designed for lower primary students, our advanced curriculum takes young explorers on a thrilling journey through the wonders of outer space. Alongside building an array of robots, children will learn to use simple coding to create and play exciting space-themed games.

They will craft space satellites, construct spacecrafts, and design their very own alien robots, bringing their cosmic adventures to life. Examples include:

Cargo Spacecraft

Alien Robot
