Public Speaking

Play is the most effective way for young children to learn. Built on the same proven approach as our English public speaking programme, our new ‘Little Speaking Stars’ programme helps preschoolers build confidence and clarity when speaking Mandarin.

Curriculum Approach 

Our lessons are thoughtfully designed to help children learn Mandarin naturally and confidently through fun and engaging experiences. These include:

  • Story-based learning using classic and modern Chinese tales
  • Listening to expressive storytelling and retelling stories in their own words
  • Speech and voice activities such as songs, rhymes and vocal exercises
  • Guided practice in voice projection, pacing and expressive speaking
  • Mini presentations, role-play and small-group activities
  • Games, crafts and interactive tasks that build listening, speaking and teamwork skills

Curriculum Objectives 

Through the programme, children will:

  • Develop confidence in expressing thoughts and ideas in Chinese
  • Improve pronunciation, voice projection and expressive delivery
  • Use positive body language when speaking to an audience
  • Build public speaking skills progressively each term

Programmes​

We offer weekly 1-hour enrichment lessons, with progress updates at the end of each term.

We also have a variety of fun and interactive holiday workshops that introduce children to the basics of public speaking.

Our Chinese public speaking programmes are suitable for preschoolers of ages 3 to 6.
