Public Speaking

Since 2012, our ‘Speak Up, Speak Well’ programmes have helped hundreds of children grow in self-expression, build confidence, and develop essential communication skills – through fun, interactive activities that keep young minds engaged and inspired.

Curriculum Approach

Play is the best vehicle for children’s early learning. It is how they explore the world around them, make sense of things and develop ideas. Our activity-based curriculum is shaped by this premise.

  • Our lessons are based on storybooks, as stories spark children’s imagination, while building language, listening and comprehension skills.
  • All lessons include hands-on activities that nurture creativity and encourage the children to express their thoughts and ideas while having fun.
  • In every lesson, the children have opportunities to speak up and build confidence through activities such as discussions, role-play, songs, games and presentations.
  • Lessons also include vocal exercises to develop tone, pace and vocal variety, as well as confidence-building and impromptu speaking activities.

Curriculum Objectives

Our curriculum objectives are based on our vision of enabling children to become confident and articulate communicators.

Our programmes aim to help children to:

  • Express ideas and opinions fluently
  • Listen and participate actively in discussions
  • Speak clearly and confidently in a group setting
  • Use positive body language when speaking in front of an audience
  • Boost imagination and creativity
  • Develop a love for reading and learning

Programmes

We offer weekly 1-hour enrichment lessons and provide regular updates, so that both teachers and parents have a better idea of how each child is progressing.

We also have a variety of ad-hoc and holiday programmes that introduce children to the basics of public speaking. These programmes are built around themes that children enjoy and can identify with, such as superheroes, outer space, and imagination.

  • Preschool programmes: Suitable for children of ages 3 to 6
  • Primary school programmes: Suitable for Primary 1 to 6
