Building more than robots

With Lego robotics, children build robots from scratch. If something goes wrong – whether a component detaches or isn’t properly aligned – they have to figure out what went wrong and learn how to fix it.

For example, if their robot doesn’t move the way they planned, they’ll need to analyse what went wrong, tweak their design, and try again. It’s also a fantastic way to spark creativity. While children follow step-by-step instructions  initially, they will also have opportunities to create their own designs and to think outside the box.

But perhaps the best part is the confidence boost. Watching their creations come to life –whether it’s a moving truck or a spinning windmill – fills the children with pride and a sense of accomplishment. They learn that they’re capable of turning their ideas into reality.

Jeff Rodriguez, programme manager and lead instructor for Kids Peak’s robotics and coding programmes, said: “Over the years, many principals and teachers have shared with us how robotics has helped their students grow in confidence.

We’ve seen timid children come out of their shells and become more independent. They learn to work together to solve problems and figure things out using trial and error. It’s very rewarding to see how excited and proud they are of their creations.”
